8. Vector Analysis
Abstract
This chapter describes methods relating to the handling and processing of Anopheles mosquitoes captured during malaria vector field studies. Areas covered include the following methods
1.  Handling mosquitoes in the field.
2.  Developing assembly-line approaches for specimen processing.
3.  Taxonomically identifying mosquitoes.
4.  Classifying blood-feeding stages, parity, and Christophers’ stages of ovarian development.
5.  Using molecular methods for identifying specific species of mosquitoes belonging to Anopheles species complexes.
This chapter complements Chapter 1.
