Measurement of Blood Plasma Amino Acids in Ultrafiltrates by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Automatic Precolumn O-Phthaldialdehyde Derivatization
Abstract
Amino acid analysis is an important technique that has many applications in biochemical, pharmaceutical, and biomedical fields. Profiling of plasma amino acids is also of great interest in clinical practice. Many diseases are known to be associated with disorders in amino acid metabolism. The analysis of amino acids offers the possibility of genetic prevention in both premarital and prenatal stages for those diseases resulting from inborn errors of metabolism. The plasma amino acid pattern has been also used to follow the course of prolonged dietary treatment (1,2).
